Special Day Today?

When was the last time you felt that you had a special day? A day that you can talk about, laugh about, tell your friends about?

My colleagues and I were talking about this yesterday. We were like talking quite loudly across the office because it was like 'boh jeng hoo' (no government) day. SH on leave, DD on leave, Mgr seated within earshot range was not around. Anyway, the topic of that moment came about because we were talking about what we did the day before, which is National Day public holiday lah.

Anyway, they seem quite fascinated that I had steamboat lunch with my students...like so happening lah. Something special mah...actually I also think so lah! Really what. First of all, we had steamboat...something we don't do everyday. Secondly, it was lunch. Who eats steamboat lunch? Usually it's dinner mah. Not say nobody does that, just that it's uncommon...which is what makes it special, right? Oh, ya, got a 'third thing'... I actually went marketing. I mean the genuine, wet market, buy fish, buy vegetables kind of marketing, ok. Don't play, play! And the fourth thing I guess, would be that it was with a helpful teenager - Kenneth! Haha...how more special can things get? So, it's thanks to Kenneth, Law Wei, and Jing Ting, again, for making my public holiday a special day! Yipee!!

Yesterday was also a special day. You know why? Cos I reached home at 6.30pm. Thought I could take a nap so I won't fall asleep during sharing at cell group in the evening. But I think I was too tired. By the time I truly woke up...Dang! It was 11pm!!! Cham mali cham...some explaining to do later when I see my cell leader.

So what is your version of a special day? Something worth blogging about? Well, but some people blog about everything under the sun...nothing wrong about that though. Then to them, perhaps everyday and everything is special. That's nice also, isn't it?

In fact, everyday IS special. Cos God made it. And He fills them with good works for us to do...it's a matter of whether we want to participate in it. His mercies are new every morning, the Bible says. That's something I won't take for granted...so that makes it special too.

In conclusion, I think if in everything there is something we don't take for granted, then it's special. May we learn to live everyday gratefully that we actually woke up to it, and learn to love those around us no matter how irritating they can become. May we love the things that really matter, and share and let go of the things that are material.
