A Significant Day

It has been an eventful Saturday. I woke up rather early, considering it was a non-working day and that I do not have any appointment before rehearsal in Church at 6.30pm. I wanted to go back to sleep lah, but need to run errands...gotta get it done before HDB Bedok Branch closes at 1pm.

Surprisingly, the queue was rather short when I reached there around 9.30am. In less than 10 mins, I got my season parking coupon and I was on my way home again. I remember thinking that this could be my last bus ride.

Went MacD for late breakfast when my brother-in-law called and said he would pick me up to pick up his new car and then I can take over his. Woohoo!

After the car was collected, we drove to a nearby place to transfer all the stuff from his old car to the new. Ok, it's kinda lame perhaps, but as I drove off, I felt like my status has changed - no, not the conceited kind, definitely. I felt a sense of independence.

I guess being the youngest at home, I have been quite sheltered with almost everything taken care of by my siblings, and I seldom need to worry about anything. So this is a big step for me.

I've been wanting to get my own set of wheels for a while. The desire went through a long period of contemplation, and now it has finally been realised. I got my first car when I was studying in Perth, even before I got my license. It was only AUD$5,000, fully sponsored. It was an old (about 20 year old then), white, Mazda 626. Served me well for the rest of my Uni days.

After that was rehearsal, late dinner, pump petrol (so expensive), and for the very first time, drive in for a car wash. $6 only leh...quite worth it lah. Rather than I wash myself right? After CNY, I'll get it polished and waxed.

Got a purchase list to check off for the next couple of weeks...

Oh ya, went to support Kenneth and Nicholas at SMU Band Concert at Victoria Concert Hall last night. The band sounded tight, though a couple of individuals were a bit off. The emcees, both were performers themselves, were entertaining, too. One of them conducted 2 pieces and even sang in the midst of conducting "Sway". So talented, can? His speaking and singing voice sounded good, too. Too bad he only sang a small segment of the song. But it was enough to impress me.

Walked to Clarke Quay's Hot Stones for dinner with Ruizhen after the concert. So expensive lah. It wasn't that fantastic, either, considering the price. I think I'd rather go for Pepper Lunch anytime. But the company was good, so that kinda compensated for the so-so dinner. Thanks, Ruizhen, so glad you could come along at such short notice.

I'm glad I could make it this time. Still sore about missing it last year, though. Oh well...
