Band Camp 07
It's 1am of the 2nd day of Band Camp 07. I came straight back to TP from Church Camp at Putrajaya Marriott on Wednesday night and only managed to catch at most 1 hour of sleep. The Management Committee stayed up till real late to tie up what's to be done the next day (yesterday).
It was a whole day of activities for 1st day of the camp. A few hiccups here and there (had to go hands on to help clean the flour from PCEO's parking lot...it was one of the game stations) but I think those who bothered to have fun, had fun. I'm quite pleased that most of them were really sporting. Majority stayed on overnight and some are watching Swing Girls right at this moment even as I'm writing this entry. I think the band camp is quite a success. We'll know by this evening from the feedback forms, I guess.
Few of the Alumni members came by during the BBQ session in the evening. Mark, Claire, Jackson, Eileen, Gerard, and even Baldwin were there...there's this other person...can't really remember his name. Think not from my batch of students. Mr Tan stayed on after the combined practice to join in the fun, too. At this point, I must say, "Thank You, God, for the good weather." And also thank God that I managed to get the buggy from EFM. Of course, it's not because many of the band members had fun on the buggy ride (too many at the same time though...hope words won't reach the ears of the loaner. The buggy was ok with all the weight, but kind of felt guilty that things got carried away.) but more because the buggy was put to good use, ferrying people and logistics from one place to another. Otherwise, I would be limping by now and probably won't be able to walk immediately when I get out of bed tomorrow.
During the bbq, Kenny gathered the Management Committees from the current and previous AY and presented me with a gift from all of them. It was a ring engraved with "Advisor AY06/07 TP Band". Thank you. I feel honoured and I'm wearing it now in remembrance of all your affection and encouragement.
At the last band concert (Time & Tide), I received a mobile accessory attached with a little angel and heart-shaped figuring. It was really lovely, especially because the many gift boxes that contained the gift were filled with each individual's message to me. Well, it's hanging on my clarinet now and it reminds me of you, too. Your words on the boxes make me feel that all the heartaches and tears were not in vain. I'm proud of you for going through them together as a team. When the heartaches and tears come again this year, I know I can read those words again and be strengthened. Whatever you're doing now, you're still my pride and joy. Ok, ok, especially to the 2 PJs.
Right...better get back into action. Enough of slacking...but the conference room after 10pm is still one of the best place to be. Got aircon!
PS: The coach I took from KL back home was by Transtar - one of those double-deck, 3-seats-in-a-row coaches. It was really comfortable, with a steward who served us food and beverage throughout the 5.5 hours' journey. There was quite a bit of leg room and I even have my own little TV! Watched quite a few movies on the road.
