A Case Of Laptopless-ness

A quick one before I dash to my brother's house for his delicious home-cooked chicken rice.

Have been rather disoriented since I became offline and laptopless for almost a week. Absence makes the heart grows fonder. I just collected Ben-Hur this morning but still can't get it fixed because my colleague forgot to bring his stuff to work today. Sigh...but at least I think I have all my stuff ready. Tomorrow will be the day of its revival. Still got to fix my portable HDD. Think it's infected. Argh!!! Can't wait for tomorrow... will be ordering Max and Touch online! Yay!

This weekend would have been the worst hit if I didn't have Puccini's Turandot to look forward to on Saturday at Esplanade Theatre. Went to the opera with Jasmin and Kenneth. Was afraid that I might fall asleep from my last experience. I even deliberately took a nap just in case. Maybe the 45-minute shuteye did help cos I was really engaged throughout despite the heavy dinner at the Simply Peranakan Cuisine just before the show.

Anyway, regarding the show, it was a little difficult to have to look at the subtitles at the side displays and to fully enjoy the audio and visuals. But that aside, I have mixed feelings about the storyline. I really liked one of the character's (Liu's) voice. I left the programme in the car... can't remember the singer's name. Her character's sacrificial love was very touching, perhaps more so because of her death to secure her beloved's victory to win the heart of another. Stupid prince, ahaha... At curtain call she received a louder applause than the leads, and I think she deserved it. Oh, and I love the adaptation of the song "Mo-Li-Hua" (Jasmine) heard in the various parts of the opera. It was quite refreshing listening to an old Chinese song in an Italian production.

I think I might grow to like watching operas... more holes in the pockets for sure.

Just heard news of Jonathan Stockstill and Deluge Band being held back from their tour to Korea and Singapore (Cornerstone) due to hurricane Gustav. Do keep the band and their families in prayer, and also for the people hit by this catastrophe. Apparently, from the news, 2 million people were evacuated prior. But some of their homes would inevitably be destroyed.

We'll get more updates tomorrow. The outcome would incidentally also determine if I'll be rostered as worship vocalist again this Sunday. I look forward to it, but yet, I really hope they can come.
